Closed Vozdvizhenka airbase in Primorsky region in Russia’s Far East.

Explorers do not want to be caught by the field’s few guards.

The base is not in use after the regiment it hosted was disbanded.

But it is the only airfield in the area fit for large aircraft, so it is kept operational.

Now it is a graveyard for 18 Tupolev Tu-22M3s.

They are supersonic, swing-wing, long-range strategic strike bombers.

The aircraft at Vozdvizhenka field are empty powerless hulls.

Radars, engines, weapons and cockpit equipment have been dismounted.

Square holes in fuselage have been made on purpose – to ground the bombers forever.

The dead Tupolevs are waiting to be cut into pieces and utilized.

Some of the bombers, which used to be stationed here, are still in service at a new site.
